Young people need to be educated about the production of alternative energy and the most successful way as witnessed by the writer is by using the PicoTurbine Company's books, projects and kits. PicoTurbine has produced these things to purposely educate young people about the environment which they will inherit by looking at the advances in alternative or renewable energy, the seeds of their future. "Things are more like they are now than they have ever been before", said the late, great Mr. Gerry Ford. "If we are to change the future world for the better, then it starts right here and now with the advent of the "green" energy systems.

There is a an old adage which states: "Tell me, and I will forget. Show me, and I might remember some of it. Involve me, and I will master it", which has been tried and tested. It has become a core concept of PicoTurbine in producing kits which encourage young people to learn hands-on by the activities that are suggested so they can see for themselves. One such suggestion by the company is the demonstration of how wind energy can produce heat (a specialty of the company), which uses a "picture wire" as the heating element. People naturally would think that wind energy would produce some king of "cold" energy as discovered by PicoTurbine, so it comes as a pleasant surprise to learn how in fact the use of wind in our homes can generate heat. The company also offers another suggestion that in a classroom, different groups are made up, so that can build their own wind turbines and then the results compared respectively. This is exciting for young children especially, as they are then able to see which one can produce the most electricity in comparison to the one with the least; the ones that require the least quantity of wind power; and most aesthetically appealing wind turbine of all of them.

Energy is one of those things that people can’t do without. And, unfortunately, the need for energy has placed a tremendous burden on the environment. But the environment doesn’t have to suffer needlessly just to accommodate mankind’s need for energy, as there are other types of attainable alternative energy power sources available to use, such as solar and magnetic.

The rising alarm of diminishing fossil fuel in the next forty years must make the world to feel energy crisis sooner or later. The growing concern on receding fossil fuel reserves has urged the human folk to cut back their dependency on fossil fuels.  It reports are to be believed, nearly half of the world's oil reserves are emptied and it's time for everyone to think of alternative renewable energy solutions to prevent fossil fuel extinction and minimize the level of pollution. The benefit of preferring renewable resources is that they never get emptied like coal, oil and gas. You can accomplish all your energy requirements with renewable resources like wind, solar and water (hydro).

It has been reported that wind is an expensive renewable energy solution as compared to other sources, even though, technology today has left no stone unturned in efficiently generating wind energy at lower cost. Basically, wind has been considered as an unreliable alternative energy resource. Like all other sources of alternative energy, the expenditure in harnessing wind energy is higher than other traditional sources.  As a result, the advantage of using wind as a renewable energy solution is suppressed by the cost it incurred in generating. A study conducted by Midwestern wind farms in the USA has been revealed that they yield 17 to 39 percent return on the power consumed by them whereas the standard return on a coal plant is just 11 percent.

New Delhi, One of the most debated topics today is the future scenario of energy use. The focus is now on a range of technologies that are expected to emerge in the coming years and decades. There is universal recognition of the fact that new technologies and much greater use of some that already exist provide the most hopeful prospects for mitigation of emissions of gases that threatens our planet.

The good news, experts agree, is that renewable energy can deliver half of the world’s energy needs by 2050.Some reports show that it is economically feasible to cut global CO2 emissions by almost 50% within the next 43 years. They also agree that commercial production of renewable energy on large to massive scales is technically possible.
